If there is an artiste in Uganda that tries their best In terms of releasing a video worth their status then it has to be Chameleone. If only Bebe Cool did the same instead of telling anyone who lends him an ear how he’s “big size” then he too would have a decent picture worth his title.
The only problem with Chameleone is that at-times his song titles can leave you scratching your head trying to find out the meaning. Case in point is Bayuda. Now can you go and ask Nsaba Buturo or Otafiire what the definition of Bayuda is? What about Vumulia? Goodness, what the hell does Valu Valu mean? It can’t be a hair product from Samona Beauty products could it be?
Anyway moving on; the video is shot by one of the best in the biz, Bashir. Him and Chamili go way back with songs like Vumulia being shot by Badi pictures, a company owned by Bashir. And what Bashir knows well is colour, editing and giving your picture that classy look to it. What he’s not good at is a storyline.
For example the storyline you find in Pastor Bugembe’s videos is not what you can find in videos shot by Bashir. In Valu Valu, he tries to rectify that flaw.
The video got its official unveiling last Wednesday at Virgin Island, but I pray this “official unveiling” of a video will not be a new habit by our musicians who will start concocting of sorts of “launches” mbu “official video launch sponsored by Samona” Please all you artistes out there… Twakoowa Abafele.
Nice song. Best video so far in 2012.
