What is the name of your business?
It’s called Gamer’s Arena.
Why that name?
I chose that name because I was thinking of creating a place for the people interested in playing video games and that was the only name I could come up with.
What services do you offer at Gamers Arena?
I sell video games and accessories and people come and play games at the shop. I’m also a technician who can repair, service and modify gaming consoles.
Why gaming and not something else?
I have always wanted to work and earn from something that I love to do. I have been playing games since childhood and I wanted to invest in something I know how to do.
How much did you invest in this business?
My initial investment was about Shs4m, but I’m still investing up to now because I feel I have not yet achieved my business goals.
What type of games do you sell and what are your charges?
I sell consoles and games for PC, PS2, PS3, PS4, XBox360, XBoxone, PSP, PSVita, Nintendo Will and so on. Playing charges start from Shs1,000.
What are some of the challenges that you face doing this business?
Older people don’t want to play games because they think they are for children. Besides, my business is located in Kisenyi, a place that is so dangerous and risky. There are lots of thieves here, but I manage.
Where do you buy your games from?
I import them from Germany and the UK.
