This video got me thinking about two things; “has Bebe Cool’s friendship with Radio and Weasal paid off?” or “has the Big Size finally woken up to what it means to be a big size in the music industry?” Let’s be honest, Bebe Cool hasn’t had any video worth the hype ever since he did Kube with EABC, but he just manages to take us by surprise with this video directed by Capital Dreams’ Clarence Peters, a man with a midas touch when it comes to music videos.
Sublime, mellow and great visuals is what could describe Love You Everyday, a gold standard for the future Ugandan videos. Yet, a part of me thinks Bebe Cool is setting the standard so high that he may fail to keep up with himself.
So what the heavens is this video about? Picture a deserted location, flavoured with a periwinkle relic vintage car, that’s where the video sets off. The magical act with which this antiquated car fuses with the deep blue that overhangs the stony desert is what actually sets the emotional and visual tone of the video. Who knew that the transition the desert sky makes from deep blue; bordering upon purple to deep blue tinge could be that eye-catching?
That woman in a Masai – kikoyi, the woman Bebe Cool obsesses over in this video, plays her part, all so naturally. And how the video gets to the climax, is something worth another tale. I love how the sun dips behind the horizon , Bebe Cool getting wild with the band, and the daylight still lingering in the air, as if accidentally left behind to keep the viewer’s eyes caught in visual suspense. But hey, it still took the efforts of a Nigerian video producer, read that-Nigerian.
