Away from Kabera, the night was all about eating as Chef Sho brought guests “back to school” with a playful, refined twist on nostalgic boarding school meals.
Seated on a stool with a microphone in front of her and a guitarist right besides her, you could not miss Angel Kabera’s set. It was not one of those loud performances at events with speakers stationed at every corner. This was something simple.
Angel Kabera’s performance was directed towards a group of less than 40 people, some of whom were paying close attention to what she was singing while others just minded on what brought them to Kardamom Koffee during the second edition of the Chef’s Table with Singleton last Saturday evening.
Throughout the evening, Kabera serenaded guests with an enchanting acoustic set. Her soulful, melodic voice lent the perfect ambiance which evidently created an atmosphere that was both relaxing and uplifting for guests during the exceptional experience.
She did covers from Joshua Baraka, Elijah Kitaka, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, among other artistes, mixing genres from soul, reggae to RnB. It was a blend of all generations.
Away from Kabera, the night was all about eating as Chef Sho brought guests “back to school” with a playful, refined twist on nostalgic boarding school meals. His three-course menu stirred up memories of simpler times, but with a touch of gourmet sophistication.
The night kicked off with a starter featuring sweet potatoes paired with a peanut butter sauté, a nod to familiar comfort foods, but with a delightful, inventive twist. For the main course, Chef Sho served up posho with a beefy twist, adding depth and richness to the classic meal.
Dessert was a refreshing take on pastries, providing a light and satisfying finish.
Speaking about his inspiration, Chef Sho said, “High school was tonight’s inspiration. My goal was to take people on a journey; a taste of their childhood but transformed in a way that reminds them how good life can be. The joy in the room confirmed I had achieved just that.”
Singleton’s presence, as always, added an elegant touch to the occasion. A dedicated Singleton bar offered guests bottomless cocktails throughout the evening, allowing everyone to enjoy a continuous flow of unique, expertly crafted drinks.
Bersi Mesgna, the event organiser, remarked on the success of the evening, saying, “The Chef’s Table is about crafting unforgettable experiences that blend exquisite dining with moments that touch the heart. Seeing everyone engaged in the experience, sharing stories and enjoying the meal was a reminder of why we do this.”
It was a memorable and intimate evening of indulgent flavours and soulful music, offering a luxury dining experience.
