Lil Pazzo in trouble over copyright infringement

Lil Pazzo

Lil Pazzo’s chart-topping song “Enkudi” might have brought him fame and fortune, but it could also land him in financial trouble. The Ugandan artiste has been served with a legal notice for copyright infringement by the late Kato Lubwama’s family, who claim that Lil Pazzo’s song uses their father’s original composition without permission.

According to the legal notice from Maldes Advocates, the law firm representing Kato Lubwama’s family, Lil Pazzo’s song “Irena WEee” is a direct replica of Lubwama’s song “Kilabe Ebiiso” in terms of lyrics, rhythm, and beat. The notice states that this amounts to plagiarism and is actionable at law.

The legal notice demands that Lil Pazzo takes immediate action to rectify the situation, including:

  • Removing the infringing song from all media platforms
  • Issuing a formal apology for the infringement
  • Publicizing the apology on all media platforms where the song is being played
  • Paying damages of UGX 300 million (approximately USD 80,000)
  • Paying the costs of the lawyers, totaling UGX 20 million (approximately USD 5,000)

The notice gives Lil Pazzo 14 days to comply with these demands.

This legal trouble could be a significant setback for Lil Pazzo, who has been riding high on the success of “Enkudi”. The incident highlights the importance of respecting intellectual property rights and seeking proper clearance before using someone else’s work.

It remains to be seen how Lil Pazzo will respond to these legal demands. Will he comply and apologize, or will he contest the claims and face the consequences? Only time will tell.”
