The Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has urged the Uganda Communication Commission to stop the release of a music video by Gravity Omutujju, citing the misuse of medical symbols.

The video features the musician wearing a clinical coat and using a stethoscope, which the UMA says undermines the professionalism of the medical community.

“We demand that the entertainment industry ceases misusing our clinical coats and stethoscopes, as this undermines the professionalism of our medical community and erodes public trust,” Dr Herbert Luswata, UMA president, said at a press conference in Kampala on Monday.

The doctors claim that the use of medical symbols anyhow by non-doctors depicts that it’s cheap and easy to become one, whereas not.
