At the weekend, Sheraton Hotel hosted a night of celebrations as friends, colleagues, family, and well-wishers gathered to honour Simon Mwebaze, the managing director of Old Mutual Investment Group.
The talented trio of Myco Ouma, Kenneth Mugabi, and Sewa Sewa serenaded the crowd and their performance left the crowd yearning for more. They performed songs such as Nkwegomba, Kibunomu, and the crowd’s favourite, Naki.
The emotional night was filled with heartfelt speeches and one of those in attendance was Mwebaze’s grandmother, mother, the Katikkiro of Buganda, the group managing director of Old Mutual Kenya, Andrew Mwithiga, Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka and other dignitaries.
Mwebaze’s journey with Old Mutual started as a portfolio planner in 2007, rising through the ranks to become managing director in 2022.
Colleagues and friends praised him for his dedication, vision, and transformative impact on the company.
Mwithiga, described Mwebaze as extremely helpful, obedient, and diligent. Old Mutual Investment Group Board chairman, Prof. Samuel Sejjaaka, thanked Mwebaze for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication, noting that he managed to grow the Unit Trust to number one in Uganda.
