Kampala nightlife got a touch of Nairobi at the weekend, with two Kenyan artistes in town but each on a different programme. Nameless was here for Blankets and Wine which happened yesterday, while Redsan was the guest artiste at Noni Vie.

The two artistes both have a history in Uganda, having collaborated with Bebe Cool and Chameleone, with whom they started singing careers back in Kenya.

This history perhaps is the reason Bebe Cool was among the revellers last Friday evening at Noni Vie during the Love Scotch Affair that featured Redsan as the headlining act.

Bebe Cool’s presence was noticed by Redsan, who paused his performance to pay tribute to his longtime friend.
He reminisced about their earlier days in the game, saying, “Bebe, Chameleone and myself started the original East African Bashment

Crew in 1996. Bebe and I have been in the music industry for more than 27 years, which is no easy feat,” Redsan said.

The Kenyan dancehall artiste, real name Swabri Mohammed, brought the house down with a sensational performance. He took to the stage a few minutes past 2am, alongside the legendary DJ Shiru and worked the crowd with an energetic performance.

With Shiru curating his performance, the veteran artiste delivered hit after hit, including classics such as Nakutaka, Yule Pale, Back It Up and Badda Than Most. In his 30-minute performance, Redsan also performed some of his latest jams, including Turn Up but when Shiru teased the crowd with Shoulder Back, they went crazy.

The artiste then invited anyone on stage to attempt the dance moves of the song and the man who went up on the stage took the challenge to a whole new level with a spiced up dance routine. The ladies took turns dancing with the Kenyan star, creating unforgettable moments.
