Music meets social impact: Blu*3 and Reach A Hand Uganda make a difference

Ahead of their concert at Sheraton Hotel gardens, Blu*3 group members Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi, and Cinderella Sanyu, in partnership with Reach A Hand Uganda, conducted a community outreach program in Kitalanga, Heritage Zone, Kansanga area. The initiative targeted over 300 expectant mothers and young girls, focusing on empowering them with knowledge on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The outreach, part of the Generation Gender (GenG) project, involved door-to-door activations and public engagement, distributing Mama Kits, reusable sanitary pads, and offering HIV testing services, condoms, and PrEP medicine. Stanbic Bank, AfriPads, and Talent Africa Group supported the initiative.

Allan Anyanzire, Programs Officer for Community Engagement at RAHU, emphasized the importance of raising awareness on HIV testing and promoting healthy communities. Alice Avuru, a beneficiary, expressed gratitude for the support, acknowledging the challenges she faces in accessing SRHR services due to poverty.

The LC1 Chairperson, Christine Mbajja, appreciated the efforts, noting the high prevalence of teenage pregnancies, poor menstrual health management, and HIV in the community.
