The first edition of the highly anticipated Mics of Kla event, held on Friday May 25th at Club Guvnor, set quite an impressive benchmark for live music performances in Kampala.
Sponsored by the new Don in town- the Don Julio Tequila, and headlined by the talented Mike Kayihura the night undoubtedly lived to every bit of its billing.
The event is specially dedicated to celebrating artists who possess extraordinary abilities to captivate audiences with their vocal prowess.
From the moment he stepped onto the stage at 1 am, Kayihura had the crowd spellbound. His performance was a masterclass in live singing, as he delivered some of his most-loved songs such as Elevated a collabo with Ugandan star Azawi, Jaribu, My Only Baby, Kante, Tuza, and Anytime.
Kayihura’s connection with the crowd was undeniable. All cameras and eyes were fixed on him, capturing every moment of his enchanting performance. As he concluded his set, the lanky Rwandese star couldn’t hide his gratitude to his Ugandan fans; “Thank you all for coming out tonight. I have mad love for Uganda and hope you enjoyed the show.”
His seamless interaction with the crowd and his ability to evoke strong emotions through his music made it clear why NduguzCulture chose him to headline this special event.
“We traveled all the way to Rwanda to pick this gem because he is an amazing performer. We are here to celebrate culture, fashion, and people who appreciate the same kind of music. There is no better place to do it than at East Africa’s number one night spot, with the newest don in town- Don Julio,” said Sammy Wetala, Director at Nduguz Culture.
Although it’s been on the Ugandan market for just months, Don Julio tequila has seamlessly integrated into Kampala’s vibrant nightlife. Its partnership with the Mics of Kla event not only highlighted the brand’s commitment to celebrating music and culture, but also reinforced its status as a premium choice for those seeking the signature Don Julio experience.
“Tonight is one of those nights that marks the beginning of many more amazing nights like this one. This is the right time to be in such spaces. The event not only highlights Don Julio’s commitment to celebrating music and culture, but also reinforces our status as a premium choice for those seeking an exceptional party experience,” said Simon Lapyem, the Brand Manager Don Julio.
After Kayihura’s performance, DJs Etania and Ssese took over the turntables, ensuring the party continued well into the wee hours of Saturday morning.
The Mics of Kla event kicked off on a high, and it clearly set the bar for Nduguz Culture and Don Julio’s commitment to create more unforgettable parties moving forward.
