A producer’s job ends in the studio – Cindy

Cindy

Recently, Ugandan producers have been on a rampage in regards to what belongs to them when it comes to Ugandan songs. Producers feel they should get much more than what they are receiving from musicians yet they make the song.

“We are the ones who create for them..,” Washington said.

But the Uganda Musicians Association president Cinderella Sanyu, alias Cindy, thinks that the producer’s demands need revisiting. She says she was unaware that the relationship between the producer and the artiste is a lifetime commitment.

“I thought I just come with my song, record, and go. No producer has told me that since I have done for you Ayokyayokya me and you we are together for life. Nobody said that. It is something I am hearing now. I think we should just renegotiate because if you tell me production takes Shs3m and I give it to you, I think that is it,” Cindy said. She added that a producer’s job ends in the studio. “What happens next for a song to become a hit is the job of the artiste.”
