Anna Charity Nyabonyo wins AFRIMACT Award in Nigeria

Anna Charity Nyabonyo

Nyabonyo Anna Charity emerged victorious on December 1st, clinching the esteemed Afrimact Model of the Year award at Africa’s Monarchs, Arts, Culture, and Tourism (AFRIMACT) Awards in Nigeria. In an interview with sQoop, she provided insights into her journey, attributing her success to her role as the country director of Miss Africulture, the founding organization behind AFRIMACT. Additionally, Nyabonyo is a part of Top Model Uganda, a branch of Top Model UK.

We asked Nyabonyo about what it meant for her to stand tall before a continental audience. She was so excited to acknowledge her consistency and confidence as instrumental in securing the victory, stating, “Above all, I am blessed and favored by both man and God, and that’s why I am not surprised.”

In discussing the competitive nature of the modeling industry, Nyabonyo encouraged aspiring models to persevere, highlighting the plethora of opportunities for those with passion and determination. She specifically noted the supportive nature of the Lagos community, where individuals are valued for their potential rather than their background or nationality.

Her advice to fellow models extended beyond the runway, emphasizing resilience and self-belief: “Let no one dim your light because they are not you.” Nyabonyo’s own experience living a double life as both a model and an engineer in land surveying provided a unique perspective. She proudly proclaimed, “Even Engineers Have Talent” and championed the acceptance of pursuing multiple passions alongside a career.

Nyabonyo expressed her intention to utilize the platform gained through the Afrimact Model of the Year award to inspire young talents across various fields. “I intend to showcase that success knows no geographical boundaries and that individuals can excel in their chosen paths, regardless of their starting point.”

At the moment of writing this article, Charity had just left Nigeria for Namibia where she is celebrating her success till Christmas day has passed. “I would like to thank Uganda Airlines, the team that enabled me to travel to Lagos,” she explains, “I am also grateful for the new Lagos-Entebbe route as one of the first users.”
