Let the music and comedy industry grow – Bebe Cool to URA

Bebe Cool

For some time now, the public has been wondering why Alex Muhangi’s Comedy Store shifted from Lugogo UMA show grounds to Lazio bar, a smaller venue compared to the latter.

Last Wednesday, Bebe Cool who was the headlining act at the Comedy Store show pointed out the main reasons for the drastic changes.

The artiste said the reason for those changes was because URA (Uganda Revenue Authority) frustrated Alex Muhangi.

“You know I am in pain because Alex left a big venue so I send this message to URA. It is only by common sense that when Alex comes in like this, he gives so many people jobs. Thousands of people earn from comedy so when you stop it because you want money from the government, that is a mess,” Bebe Cool said midway through his performance.

The veteran artiste further appealed to the president to intervene in this matter.

“And for the first time I go public by asking the president to intervene into the comedy industry. This is totally nonsense because if we don’t have a big crowd in a big venue then we don’t have so many comedians and when we don’t have many comedians then we don’t have new talent. So I ask you URA that before we start a fight with you, let the music industry, comedy industry grow,” he added.
