Actors, actresses, comedians, friends and family of the late Kato Lubwama, have kicked off preparations for staging his theater play.
By the time of his death, Kato Lubwama had gathered legends of theatre for a project that he thought would bring back the glorious days of theatre in Uganda.
Kato Lubwama involved Charles Ssenkubuge Siasa, Amooti Omubalanguzi, Phillip Luswata, and Mariam Ndagire for the ‘Cease Fire’ play but unfortunately, he passed on without fully executing it.
After his passing, the team decided to carry on his legacy by going ahead with his plan of having the play shown as earlier agreed.
While speaking at a press conference at Serena Hotel on Monday, Charles Senkubuge, the chairman of the play stated that Kato approached him with an idea that would see people return to the theatre.
“Kato Lubwama approached me with the idea and I saw sense in it. Besides the effects of Covid-19 on the theatre and bringing back people to the theatre, we also realized that Ugandans are at war with several things so we involved other stakeholders to see this project come through,” he said.
Furthermore, the organizers of this particular show have decided to do a series after the offi and will traverse the whole country.
The date for the main show is August 27, 2023, and will be staged at Serena Hotel Kampala organized by Biggie Events.
