Police have applauded events promoters, musicians and the fans for the discipline exhibited at the weekend’s major musical events in Kampala.

There were three major music concerts that happened last week, attracting huge crowds. These included musician Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso’s “Love Fest” concert at Lugogo Cricket, Patrick Mulwana alias Alien Skin’s “sitya danger” concert at Freedom City mall in Namasuba and the “Boyz II Men” concert at Kololo Independence Grounds.

“All the three concerts went successfully and there were no incidents of crime or security concern. I think this is the way for us to go” – said police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

Police however, cautioned events promoter Abby Musinguzi alias Abitex and musician Alien Skin against holding open processions on the streets of Kampala saying that such processions have a potential of breaching peace and disrupting traffic.

“It is something that we request them not to continue with for the sake of safety within the streets in downtown,” Enanga told journalists at police headquarters in Kampala on Monday.

Alien Skin brought business to a standstill in downtown Kampala on the eve of his concert as he drove together with his team through the streets, calling upon his fans to support him during his maiden swiftly organized concert.

The security report on the three recently concluded events has come just after a week when another one issued by police indicated that over 30 mobile phones and other gadgets suspected to be stolen from one festival organised in Jinja City were recovered during an operation carried out in areas of Kyebando in Kawempe Division.

There was fear from the public prior to Pallaso and Alien Skin’s concerts that the events would be a hub for criminals, mainly phone snatchers.
