Back in action: A year ago, Prince Exit took a break from music to focus on his mental health. Now he is back and he promises so much as Julius Byamukama writes.
Western Uganda gospel singer Prince Exit is back in action, this time working with Devine Management boss, Roger. The singer had taken a one-year break from music to deal with his drugs and alcohol abuse problem.
Exit, while unveiling his new management on Friday at Life Lounge Mbarara, admitted that he is now a changed person and he is optimistic that he will start from where he stopped.
“Musically, I had relaxed for one year and people were always asking where I had disappeared to. I took time off to rest and I am now a changed person. I no longer take drugs and alcohol, I have come in high gear,” said Prince Exit, adding, “I have been waiting for this day and I want to introduce to you my new manager Rogers Niwamanya, who has been my friend and liked my work, so he decided to push and support me.”
Manager Roger, as he is commonly known in music circles, said he chose to work with Prince Exit after analysing the kind of music Exit does and decided to push his work through supporting him financially.
“When Prince Exit sent me his new gospel song Osiime Mukama, I was touched and vowed that I must work with him in pushing and giving support to his work. He is no longer a learner, he only needs to be motivated and supported, once he is offered all that he will be back in full gear and the content he will offer is what will make him what he wants to be,” said manager Roger
He called upon people of western Uganda to support their local content and not wait for anyone else to do it for them.
“As someone from western Uganda, I feel concerned. People of western Uganda have become lazy at pushing talent to greater heights. Let us work hand-in-hand with the rest of the music stakeholders in pushing the entire western Uganda music industry both gospel and secular. I also request media personnel to push our local artistes; once we work together we shall see our music cross boundaries,” he added
Prince Exit is known for hits such as Ninkwesiga, Mpaka, Ebyensi Nomushenyi, Challenge, Nshomeramu, Osiime Mukama, among others.
