Ketchup’s East African tour hangs in balance after suffering terrible home accident

Nigerian singer and songwriter Onyido Nkemjika popularly known as Ketchup nearly met his creator when he suffered an accident at his residence in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ketchup who is now recovering steadily suffered fractures and also hurt his cervical spine in a home accident that left many thinking the star singer could have had it worse.

In a viral video that showed the singer helpless on the floor as friends surrounded him for help, Ketchup is said to have slipped and fallen on his back fracturing many bones.

Before the accident, his new video ‘Chebet’ has been getting great feedback being a true story.

As an independent artiste since 2016, Ketchup planned his first tour of the year that would see him traverse Africa & the world which now is still in balance until the singer is fully fit.

Ketchup had all intentions to perform in Uganda while on his tour but that now lies in balance.

About Ketchup

Ketchup was born Onyido Nkemjika on May 1 in Lagos Nigeria and is the first of four siblings. He studied mass communication while at Atlantic College, KL Malaysia.

Ketchup wrote his first song Nuvo featuring U.K Disc Jockey DJ JamJam in 2010 which went on to bag him an award at the prestigious Malaysian AEA Awards in the same year.

He later relocated to Nigeria and released another single, On the Beat” featuring Rayce in 2012. During this time, he met the talented producer, ‘EmmyACE’ and together, they created a new bounce & style for Ketchup’s music called “AFRO DANCEHALL “  and released the club banger, Show Me Yuh Rozay which to date remains evergreen.

He has won numerous awards like Best stage performance – AEA Awards Malaysia 2011 – Won, Best Video of the Year – AEA Awards Malaysia 2011 – Won, Artist of the year – AEA Awards Malaysia 2012 – Won, Best International Act – NEA Awards New York 2012, Best new Act – NEA Awards New York 2013, Artist of the Year – Mayhem in May (MIM) Nigeria 2013 – Won, Artist of the Year – Green Awards Nigeria 2013 – Won, Club Flames Merit Awards – Club Hottest Music Artist 2013 Nigeria.
