In 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a luxurious space station called Elysium, and the poor, who live on an overpopulated, devastated Earth.

On Earth, one man’s story is highlighted as he struggles to overcome his fear and defeat an evil that has haunted him since his childhood, no matter the cost. This man is Max Da Costa.

Matt Damon plays Max, a shaven-headed, tattooed resident who gets irradiated at his factory job and, after being fitted with an exoskeleton, he must break into Elysium, which is ruled by Jodie Foster.
Max is the only man with the chance to bring equality. If he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth. He will need to protect himself, drive a car with extra layers of metal and have guns to fight Elysium. You will not miss the action.

The Romania Insider, a site that reviews movies, says that the enjoyable part of Neil Blomkampf films is that the human drama takes precedent in the story, keeping the viewer engaged.

“The plot is not predictable and paced to keep the viewer interested in what will happen next. Blomkampf uses visual techniques in the film to slow down the action so the audience can follow it. The sound design has some really nice moments,” it adds. In an interview with The Guardian, director Blomkamp explains that his sci-fi thriller mixes blockbuster convention with an allegorical message about immigration in the US, how growing up in Johannesburg influenced the film and why dumping an all-American superstar like Matt Damon in a Mexico City shanty-town makes for cool cinema.
