Streaming platform Spotify has wrapped up 2022 with results of how Ugandans have performed.
According to the data collected, local music consumption from Uganda registered a 294% year-on-year increase, an encouraging figure that shows that Ugandans are streaming almost three times what they did last year.
Azawi is the most streamed local artiste followed by Fik Fameica while AeHil, Winnie Nwagi, and Vinka complete the top five.
Their research also shows that Saturday is the most streamed day in the week followed by Fridays and Ugandans love streaming at midday and then 6 pm.
Furthermore, Eddy Kenzo is the Top exported artiste or most listened to artiste abroad from Uganda while Bebe Cool’s ‘Love You Everyday’ dominated as the most listened to song abroad from Uganda.
Nigeria’s Burna Boy is the most streamed artiste in Uganda, overtaking last year’s giant Drake who comes in second with Fireboy DML still from Nigeria coming third.
Nigeria still dominates when it comes to streamed songs as Finesse by Pheels collabo with BNXN fka Buju takes the top spot as the most streamed song in Uganda followed by Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ comes next while Oxlade’s ‘Ku Lo Sa’ takes fourth place.
