Channel O’s Kasumba named Club Video Music Awards judge

Kasumba

Kasumba

The latest from Nile Breweries Ltd, the makers of Club Beer is that Channel O boss, Ugandan born, Leslie Kasumba will be one of the judges for the inaugural Club Music Video Awards.
Kasumba is expected in the country in a few weeks’ time to join the judging process.

With Club revealing that they have invested over Shs500m in the first music video awards in Uganda’s entertainment industry, Kasumba is indeed a big asset to the event.
Defined as a music lover with extensive experience in the African music industry, Kasumba holds a BA in Dramatic Arts from South Africa’s Wits University and started working at YFM, as a DJ, producer and magazine editor at the biggest youth station in South Africa at only 19 years of age.

Kasumba has done work for the UN, MTV and has hosted and facilitated the Live 8 music concert. She has presented the keynote address to the UN at the Global African Hip hop summit and interviewed the biggest artistes in the music world.
While Club Beer’s choice of Kasumba as a judge is a big investment, it also means so much to local musicians as Kasumba has done so much to bring unknown musicians across Africa to continental television.

Kasumba introduced a segment on Channel O where new artistes are showcased in short five-minute series simply entitled Introducing. The segment focuses on two new artistes monthly and began by profiling Uganda’s Keko and Nigeria’s Muna.
Kasumba’s involvement in home musical competitions will surely provide so much ranging from provision of a direct link between local artistes and Channel O as well as getting expert advice on artistic works from the best!
