Talk about some of Uganda’s generous artistes and Eddy Kenzo will be among them. The Weekend singer has on previous occasions given out material things to people who have helped him but earlier this week, he announced that he was open to working with upcoming artistes but …hold up! “In order to grow this industry, we have to work together and I’ll be working with any young artistes who are talented and can write songs. I emphasise songwriting because we don’t want to waste resources looking for writers,” Kenzo said.
And to prove his seriousness, 2021’s East Africa’s best male artiste in the Afrima awards unveiled the Ugaboys, a music duo he says he will be working with not in terms of management but to help them reach greater heights, just as he did with Martha Mukisa. The duo already have a song titled Freaky Friday.
