The track : Mbwase – Mun G

Mun G

Mun G

Mun G is the sick-man of Ugandan music. Sick-man here does not mean the sense in which it is used in Europe whenever there is a crisis down there. It means a silly old fellow in the mould of the most ridiculous clowns you ever met. That is the X factor about him. And that is why, at least until now, he has been irresistible to many.
In his songs, there is usually not a lot of sense for the intellectual listener who listens to a song as if they are listening to the budget speech. Mun G seems to do his art with the main aim of cracking you into laughter, primarily, and then, as an extra, maybe get you dancing or bobbing your head along.

And in this edition of the Mun G Comics, he is in a showdown with his girlfriend who is threatening to flee. For all the girl’s tough resolve to leave, he simply laughs it off in such good humour he comes off either as a bad loser or a witty winner. When she says she is dumping him, he says she has no right to do so as it is not she that courted him in the first place, all before rushing to help her pack as if he will not miss her.
Mun G’s music is neither hip-hop nor anything we currently know. Maybe one day, there will be a Mun G genre, for comedy in music.
