Not very many had an idea the Tanzanian artiste was even set to perform in Kampala, and yet on the day of his live performance, the Lugogo Hockey Grounds had quite the turn up.
The party after party anthem aptly defines Ugandans, if this show is anything to go by. Only two weeks ago, no one had an idea that Tanzanian singing sensation Alikiba was coming to Uganda.
For a show that is rumoured to have been organised in a week by Nexus events and mostly advertised on social media, it is surprising the number of people that turned up at Lugogo Hockey Grounds. How they managed to book a venue, run ads in such short time and scoop Tusker Lite on board a day to the concert, is something we may never understand.

By 9pm, the turn up looked dismal but slowly by slowly, people started turning up, to the shock of many who had anticipated a flop. By the time performances by the curtain raisers were done, the numbers were enough to calm the hearts of the organisers.
Alikiba, the man of the night, stepped on stage 40 minutes to midnight. Would he perform for just 40 minutes or would the event’s organisers sort KCCA later by paying the Shs5m fine for breaching the performance regulations?

The latter. Alikiba took over the stage and with the thrill he had created, there was no way his performance was going to be cut short. He performed songs such as ‘Cinderella’, ‘Mwana’, ‘Chekecha’ and ‘Kadogo‘, all the while engaging the revellers with his dance moves. The ladies, of course, jumped on stage to join the singer.
Aje, however, was the song everyone was waiting for and when the Tanzanian artiste performed it, the partiers mashed up the place as they sang in chorus. Alikiba, however, saved one of his latest songs for last — ‘Seduce Me‘.

It was here that he took off his short-sleeved orange coat and white t-shirt to stay in his pants. He performed the song with a female reveller, and boy did they serve some sauce on that one!
Earlier on, Daddy Andre, John Blaq, Kent and Flosso, Weasel and Sheebah had done well hyping up the show. The highlight, however, was Weasel’s performance which drew wild cheers.
