Ugandan acapella group Harmonics determined to win America Has Got Talent

Ugandan acapella group, The Harmonics Uganda became the first Ugandan group to participate in America’s talent show America Has Got Talent earlier in San Antonio, Texas this year and despite reaching the third stage of the competition, it was a dream come true for them.

In fact, they were even praised for bringing an ‘African touch’ to the competition. “It was a dream come true for the boys to be a part of this competition and they are also working hard not just to participate but to win it in July,” said their talent manager Abraham Mutalyebwa. Owen Mugumya, one of the group members, said their African touch in their execution gives them an edge over the rest because it makes their style unique.

The all-male six-member group who mostly sing gospel music, comprise of Owen Mugumya, Benjamin Kasule, Elijah Katende, Patrick Othieno, Dan Kaliba Armstrong and Patrick Mbaziira. The group started out eight years ago and the kind of music they do involves singing without instruments, and the voice used to emulate instruments and create harmony.
