The late Muhamed Ali Yoosuf
A 56-year-old Indian national was Thursday evening found dead in his rental house in Entebbe, Wakiso District in central Uganda.
Muhamed Ali Yoosuf has reportedly been suffering from Pneumonia.
A woman believed to be Yoosuf’s girlfriend, Ms Sharifah Tukundane said he had been sick for months and had been taken to different hospitals for treatment until he ran out of money pay for hospital bills prompting him to opt for home treatment.
“The doctors who tried to treat him said he was suffering from Pneumonia. He was first admitted to Grade B, Kisubi hospital before being transferred to Emmanuel hospital where he was put on a drip,” she said.
Ms Tukundane told this reporter that she is stuck with the body because Yoosuf didn’t have any family member living in Uganda. The known Indian friend the deceased had, said he didn’t have any family contacts, according to Ms Tukundane.
Mr Francis Katokoozi, the Kitubulu LC I defence secretary said Yoosuf had told him he was planning to return to India and collect money to invest tourism business in Uganda.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) the girl informed police that he was bedridden. When we came to check on him, he told us he was sick but he first hesitated to hand over he’s documents showing the different hospitals he went to. We got a doctor who accepted to treat him for free until he received money which he expected today (Thursday) at 10 am. The doctor came in the morning and put him on a drip, unfortunately, he passed on at about 3 pm,” Mr Katokoozi said.
The neighbours who talked to this reporter said the house belongs one Ms Magala Nafia who has been living abroad for the past six months.
Upon hearing about his death, the area LC called the police that rushed to the scene but went away promising return and pick the body.
In a phone interview with Daily monitor, the Asst. O.C C.I.D Entebbe police station Mr Richard Anvuku confirmed the death but said it was India’s High Commission that was going to pick the body and take it to Mulago hospital for postmortem.
