On Sunday, the three founders of Safe Boda, an application boda that joined the boda boda business in 2014 held a party for the riders. Over 7,000 riders together with their families gathered at Cricket Oval in Lugogo almost filling it to be part of the event that is the annual Safe Boda party.

The event also doubled as a chance for the riders to take home goodies that included Motor Bikes courtesy of Yuvraj, a Motor Bike company that partnered with Safe Boda and Gaz gas cylinders among other goodies.

As early as 9am, the grounds were painted orange with riders dressed in their work jackets and the parking full of their bodas, the parking too was painted orange with the helmets standing out.

They enjoyed music played by different DJs as the event hosted by comedy duo Madrat and Chiko kept them entertained. There were performances from Singers Spice Diana, King Saha and Fefe Busi.

The riders showed much love to Spice Diana who instead of performing on stage went to join them where they were seated. They surrounded her in an improper way forcing the DJ to switch off the music and send her on stage to perform from there. The show had a raffle draw where three motor bikes and Gas Cylinders were given out. Some got one year of Third party insurance.

According to Ricky Rapa Thompson, only Safe Boda has ever brought the riders together and it will remain in history. We don’t only work tirelessly but also come together as riders to celebrate and know each other. The party had food and drinks on the house and because the riders had to jump on their bikes back to work and other back home, it was strictly soft drinks and nothing alcoholic was seen at the venue.
