Abenakyo cancels Tulambule Uganda campaign trip

Quiin Abenakyo speaking at the Ministry of Tourism today

A few weeks ago, Miss Uganda and Miss World Africa, Ms Quiin Abenakyo was appointed the Goodwill Tourism Ambassador by the State Minister for Tourism, Mr Godfrey Kiwanda. As the Goodwill Tourism Ambassador, her role was to promote domestic tourism through the Tulambule Uganda Campaign.

The campaign that was supposed to start from eastern to northern Uganda was called off on Sunday morning.

Mr Kiwanda was scheduled to flag off the campaign at 9 am at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The cancellation of the Tulambule campaign was announced after reports that Ms Abenakyo was sick.

“The Queen is not feeling well. Much she wanted to be part of the Tulambule trip, doctors have stopped her from travelling until when she gets well,” Ms Brenda Nanyonjo, the chief executive cfficer of Miss Tourism Foundation, said.

She said that Ms Abenakyo initially complained about a root canal problem in her tooth which led to another sickness that the doctors are yet to establish.

According to Ms Claire Mugabi, the Head of Marketing at Uganda Tourism Board, the 5-day campaign had a demanding programme with activities like ziplining, bungee jumping, rafting among others, which cannot be handled by a sick person.

Last year, the Tulambule Campaign was spearheaded by Ms Zarinah Tlale commonly known as Zari Hassan.

The socialite visited several areas in western Uganda.

Tulambule Ne Quiin Campaign spearheaded by Abenakyo will go on as soon as Ms Abenakyo is fine, according to the organisers.
