Engule song re-emphasises confidence, says Bobi Wine

MP/singer Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine’s new song Tuliyambala Engule has become talk of the nation, attracting criticism from several Ugandans.

Some, including Pastor Martin Ssempa, an activist and founder of the Makerere Community Church accused him of distorting the Christian heritage to push his political campaigns.

But the singer has today defended the lyrics, calling it a song of hope for Ugandans.

“That song is supposed to re-emphasise confidence in the minds and hearts of all Ugandans. To make them know that the times we are going through are not easy but at the end of this struggle, after we win, we shall wear the victors crown,” he said in an interview with NTV Uganda.

The song features other local musicians like Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Irene Ntale, Nubian Lee, Ronald Mayinja, Hillary Innocent Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman and politicians like Bugiri Municipality, MP Asuman Basalirwa, among others.

On Tuesday, Irene Ntale lauded Bobi Wine saying she was glad to have been featured in the song.

“It was truly an honor for me to be asked to feature on this song. I’m glad I sang about some of the issues affecting women in my Country and creating awareness. The first step to solving a problem is identifying it. Thanks @bobiwine.  Plus all the amazing artists featured,” Ms Ntale tweeted via her handle @Irenentale.
