After a long year of deadlines, meetings, field work and PMSs, Daily Monitor Features team, took time off to wind down the year, and as always they did it in style.

The team organised its end of year party last Wednesday at Route 256, and what better way to loosen up than with plenty to drink and eat — so much to celebrate.

The managing director NMG-Uganda, Tony Glencross, thanked the team for the tremendously work this year.
“It’s always good to celebrate achievements and it has been a good year,” he said, before handing out certificates to the top performing writers and editor of the year.

Because it was an evening of fun and not a speech day, no time was wasted and the evening went straight into cutting cake — because, what is a party without cake? Then came the surprises performances from Levixone and Kenneth Mugabi.

Levixone was the first to perform, taking on the floor with his magic hit Turn The Replay that got everyone singing along. It was like a new kind of oxygen had been pumped into the room because before we knew it, everyone was on their feet dancing along.

The partiers got no warning what was to hit them next, because when Kenneth Mugabi strummed on his guitar to start his first song, hearts were melted. There was a silence that engulfed the room for a few minutes, and then the first line from his popular song Nkwegomba left his lips.

Mugabi performed three songs; Nambi, Nkwegomba and Naki, which blew the team away. He awed so many that some people like Ivan Okuda, accustomed to kidandali and dancehall music, were forced to tip him.

A few lucky ones earned themselves selfies with the musicians before the dance floor was opened. It was a good night and definitely a perfect way to close the year.
