Four One One

I have always dreamt of a concert at Cricket Oval- Levixone

Levixone

1.Turn The Replay is big and it plays in bars too, what is the story behind the song?
I had always wondered and asked God why people did not play Gospel music at weddings and different parties. I needed to show people that Gospel music is full of life because everyone thinks people who go to bars go to celebrate but others go because they have problems and when a Gospel song plays, it brings them back to life. When I was doing Turn The Replay, I prayed to God that it cuts across, and I am glad that people are dancing to it world over.
I feel blessed that my music is played in bars and by the way, not only in Uganda. My music is to hook souls and I have hooked souls in church already. I do not go to bars but when my music plays there, it is God’s work, so I just thank God and I do not want it to stop but rather want people to leave the bar with hope; if they cannot come to church, let them find God in the bars.

2. You are one of the successful Gospel singers in Uganda right now, do you face any challenges doing music?
In everything we do, there are challenges. I also face challenges, but when I accepted the Lord, I stopped fearing any challenges because I feel the Lord is in control. Everything that you go through is a story to tell the next day and if I did not go through challenges, I would not be here today telling you my story. I believe everything happens for a reason.

3. What kind of music do you listen to?
I love reggae and inspirational music. I love all Ugandan musicians but I do not listen to some of their music because of the messages in the song. I loved Mowzey Radio’s music so much that by the time he died, we had prepared to do a song together.
In his last days, he had recorded a 20-track album but some of the songs have not yet been released. I remember before he released the album, he called me to studio (Swangz Avenue). I always told people that Radio was a worshipper. He was so stubborn but I loved him. We named the album, Kilimanjaro, together.
When Radio did a whole gospel album, I desired a time when every artiste in Uganda would do at least a gospel song or two. Imagine a Uganda where Eddy Kenzo, Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool, did a gospel song. It would be amazing!

4. Turn the Replay concert. Aren’t you scared that Lugogo Cricket Oval is a little too big?
Like I have always said, I serve a living God and it is the reason I am never scared, since everything happens because of Him. God is the creator of heaven and earth and when it is His plan for Levixone to hold a concert at cricket oval, it is reason enough to go and sing for my people.
A concert in this place has always been my dream and every time I passed that place on a boda boda, I would point at it and tell the boda guy that one day I would hold a concert there and here we are. Turn The Replay will be my biggest concert ever since I started my music career. I believe something very big will happen.

5. We heard you have a song with Weasel, when are you releasing it?
We have a song called Jangu and we will perform it for the first time at the concert. I chose to work with Weasel because I was good friends with Radio and we were planning big projects alongside Weasel before he passed on. Besides, Weasel is a good person and he is trying to go through the life I went through when I lost my good friend, mentor and brother, Mark Elvis. I know what it means to live without the person you understand more than anyone else.
