On May 24, music fans woke up to disappointing news that a former star had been arrested for allegedly stealing a headlight from a car owned by one Jasper Musisi at Busega in the outskirts of Kampala.

The person was none other than singer Qute Kaye who, what many have described as the irony of life, said last year that he had given his life to Jesus at the famous 77 Days of Glory at Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle Centre.

Police then said the Ginkese singer had confessed to the crime and would be arraigned in court and charged with stealing from a motor vehicle.

Before durst settled, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice chairperson for Eastern region, Capt Mike Mukula tweeted saying he would rehabilitate Qute Kaye real name Ivan Kauma.

The flamboyant politician who is also a former Soroti Municipality MP and doubles as the patron of Uganda Musicians Association said he would ensure that Qute Kaye secures a police bond.

“This young man with talent got desperate, unemployed and with no source of income in the city. As a patron of Uganda Musicians Association, I have instructed the chairman and others to secure his release. We will rehabilitate him,” Mr Mukula said in the tweet on May 25.

Shortly after he was released from Nateete Police Station where he had been detained, he was recorded apologizing for what happened.

“I am terribly sorry and I apologize to my fans for what they saw earlier that day” Qute Kaye said adding that he knew there were many questions from the general public but he was not ready to answer them at that moment but would get time to answer all.

There were also several reports that Kaye was struggling with personal life after selling off stuff donated to him at Pastor Kayanja’s Church.

Sqoop could not independently verify the reports but Pastor Kayanja was reported urging the public not to judge the singer.

As you read this, impeccable sources say Qute Kaye is in the final stages of his new song.

Our sources say Qute Kaye recorded a song titled ‘Mulalu’ at Audio One studio owned by Producer Paddy Man.

We are yet to establish if the title of the song has something to do with what watched and heard on May 24.

All we can say is good luck brother!
