But these people who wake up to just hang out in the city!

Have you ever driven past the Total petrol station around Nakawa and taken note of the many people who idly rest under that big tree shade just next to the fuel station premises?

Jeez! Where do these people come from? Who are their families? What kind of communication do they give to their families when they set off to come and chill under shades around Kampala? Is it even normal?
I mean, how does one get transport from wherever to come and just remain idle in a busy city area? Isn’t this how criminals emerge? After all like the saying goes, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Imagine this lot sitting there, sleeping like they are in the comfort of their homes doing nothing for the whole day during this busy festive season. How will such people fail to get weird ideas?

It brings sadness to one as they wonder what could motivate someone to do this. Is it poverty? Has the hustle failed that they just end up relieving the stress under a tree somewhere? Is it a case of just being idle or do such people have hardships that they fail to deal with and end up under a tree for solace? Perhaps it is a case of rural-urban migration gone wrong?
The festive season is here so it makes this situation a concern to many. Above all, such people with God-given health and able bodies should find better ways to utilise them than choosing to just be idle. The shocking part is that some of them look well dressed, with the majority being men. Isn’t this the lot that leaves home claiming to go to work but ends up sleeping under the tree until the evening and return to their homes? Life can be quite stressful!

Anyways, nobody wants to be in a situation where they cannot do anything about it. While we empathise with those that have been led to such sad situations that they have to leave home and just find shelter anywhere, we hope that majority of these people are not just a bunch of idlers. With the festive season around, too many idlers can equal to a high crime rate.
So can all these people stay home and not scare the rest of us as they look lost and misplaced sleeping in the city centre early in the morning?
