A few days ago, singer/actor Tyrese Gibson posted on social media a long sobbing post after his ex-wife, Norma Mitchell, was granted full custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla Gibson.
This came after she alleged that the fast and furious actor hit his daughter to the extent that she could no longer sit.
However, Tyrese got wonderful news after court dismissed these rumors yesterday and granted him half the custody. This simply means that Tyrese will have as equal time with his daughter as his ex-wife.
Judge Shelley Kaufman, ruled that she found no ongoing pattern of abuse and that both parents should return to a 50-50 custody of their daughter as it were in January.

Tyrese has been open about his struggles with his ex-wife by constantly posting about her on social media something that many critics found offensive. Judge Kaufman also commented on these posts, including one where he cried over the ongoing custody. Kaufman said the posts were “melodramatic” but not in violation of the temporary restraining order which had prevented the actor from seeing his daughter for more than two months.
“He is a public figure who communicates with the public, and I don’t think this was a mechanism to communicate directly with the restrained parties,” she said.
Tyrese later took to social media to share his joy. The singer posted a picture of him and his daughter finally out for dinner saying, “Today is not a win for me, it is a win for our daughter, Shayla. Who unfortunately has been exposed to tension, private and public embarrassment and growing up and feeling torn between 2 parents who are no longer married.”

As usual he ranted about Mitchell calling her out for peddling wrong information about him. “I am proud that the courts have put an end to Norma’s toxic nonsense, declaring that none of her accusations for the last 10 years against me are credible. I did not break any laws; I did not harass anyone; and most important I never engaged in violent or abusive behavior. The physical and emotional violence that Norma publicly accused me of were all false and ruled to have no merit, no evidence, and was unsubstantiated in a court of law,” Tyrese said.
