Top notch, unique and totally Uganda are words Joe Kahirimbanyi chose to use to describe the experience that awaits music lovers that will attend this Sunday’s Bosses of Bass under the musical series dubbed ‘Qwela Junction’.

The particular junction will be headlined by bass guitarists Sammy Kasule, Winston ‘Tshaka’ Mayanja, Earnest otim, Martin Mutabingwa and Josh Mutebi.

The Qwela Junctions have taken place since 2010, giving musicians of different genres a platform to showcase their abilities to music fans on the same stage while complementing each other.

Kahirimbanyi is the brainchild behind the junctions and is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Qwanza Music, the company that organisers the music fetes.

“It is an exciting experience, especially in the rehearsal room. We are all energetic and we are ready to deliver ‘fire’ to our fans. Each of the bass guitar players will be performing two songs but we will be entertaining alongside each other, so you can imagine the delivery of five basses,” Kasule, a veteran musician with a career that spans over four decades, told media at a presser this midmorning.

He represented fellow bass guitarist at the media briefing. This was at Kampala Serena Hotel, where the fete is taking place this Sunday evening. Tusker Lite, NTV Uganda and House of Deejays are main sponsors of the event.

“This Sunday will be a premium experience and an opportunity for us to interact with out consumers in an environment that they are familiar and comfortable with,” Grace Namutebi, Tusker Lite’s brand manager says.

Afsa Umutesi, from House of DJs, promoters of the show, says that they promote the junctions because they pride in promoting local talent, and with the local campaign to save Ugandan music, it is a good way to walk the talk, message that was re-echoed by NTV Uganda and Spark TV’s brand manager, Mercy Natukunda.

Reveller will part with Shs50, 000 for ordinary tickets and Shs150, 000 for VIP tickets to the show. “It will be a long time before you this kind of show because five basses will share a stage. Many people do not know what the bass guitarist does. We are bringing them to the front and in a very spectacular way. One of my biggest dilemmas usually, is explaining to people how this arrangement works. You have to see it for yourself,” Kahirimbanyi adds.
