What kind of business do you do?
I sell a weight loss remedy called green smoothie.
Why the name green smoothie?
It is green in colour because of the vegetables added and smoothie because it is not sieved.
When did you start doing this business?
In 2015.
Why this kind of business?
I was not comfortable with my weight (no offence to the plus-sized girls), so I had to look for a way of cutting off some kilos.
How much do your remedies go for?
I charge Shs350,000 for 10 days.
How did you come up with this remedy?
I had read about many ways of losing weight on Facebook and I came across a group talking about detox. The group is called Healing Naturally Together. The members on the forum would post all sorts of remedies to lose weight and I was mostly interested in the smoothies. The smoothies leave you satisfied because of the fibre and are very rich in nutrients.
Take me through the whole process of mixing the remedies?
I cut fresh vegetables such as spinach and fresh fruits, blend them together to make the green smoothie.
How many clients do you have?
I have had about 30 clients so far.
What assurance can somebody out there who has not used your product have that your product works?
I am a living testimony of my work. I dropped from 92Kgs to 68Kgs in five months.
How do you distribute your product?
I have a boda guy who takes the smoothies to my clients.
How much do you earn in a month fromt his business?
That is difficult to tell because I do not have a fixed number of clients.
What challenges do you face doing this business?
During the 10-day detox programme, one is expected to feed on these smoothies without food but some clients cheat and they don’t achieve the desired goal. It is frustrating to see no change at the end of the 10 days.
