Singer Geoffrey Lutaaya’s father dies at 92

whatsapp-image-2016-12-26-at-16-23-06Mzee Nelson Kaboggoza, 92, the father of a local musician Geoffrey Lutaaya, passed away on Saturday evening.
According to Ms Irene Namatovu, the wife to Mr Lutaaya, Mr Kaboggoza died at his home in Mityebiri – Kyotera in Rakai District.
She added: “Mzee Kaboggoza has been battling high blood pressure and cancer for quite a long time. It is a pity to lose our dad who has been a friend and lovely to all of us. Really, we shall miss him a lot,” Ms. Namatovu said in a telephone interview.
She said that the deceased will be laid to rest at his ancestral grounds in Mityebiri – Kyotera, Rakai District on Monday.
In their condolence messages on Facebook and Twitter, Mr. Lutaaya’s music fans and friends extended their heartfelt sorrow to members of Da New Eagles band, relatives and in-laws upon the loss of a great man.
Mr Lutaaya and his band are among the artistes lined up to entertain Ugandans in a concert dubbed “Tondeka e Kavumba ku Boxing Day” but it has not yet been communicated or confirmed whether he has cancelled his plans for the day.
Sqoop’s efforts to speak to Mr Lutaaya were futile since he failed to pick our repeated telephone calls.
May Mzee Kaboggoza’s soul rest in peace.
