Telecommunications provider, Vodafone Uganda, has launched a new social media video campaign to inspire youth in their different aspirations.

The campaign dubbed #ICreateTomorrow is aimed at providing the youth with a mouthpiece to air their hopes and dreams.

The youth are expected to post a 45 seconds video about their passion and how they are creating their tomorrow under the creative, entrepreneur and future business leader categories.

A select panel of judges will then award the winners with a three-day trip to London next month.

A statement from the company’s website states that, “Three lucky winners will have a chance to meet entrepreneurs, business leaders, creatives, in an effort to help them develop their vision for their tomorrow.”

According to John Ndego, the Vodafone CEO, the move by the telecom is to inspire and empower the youth to own their future. “The youth are our future and as the Next Generation 4G data provider, we have the tools to empower them,” Mr Ndego said.

“Vodafone is headquartered in London, the trip provides an opportunity to the youth to explore how their peers are taking advantage of technology,” Mr Ndego added.

Created by former Daily Monitor Social Media Specialist, Mr John Ssenkeezi who is now Vodafone’s Digital Communications Specialist,  the campaign is tipped to be one of the most viral campaigns that ever graced the industry.

Speaking at the roll out of the campaign, Mr John Ssenkeezi said :” This going to be the most successful digital campaign I’ve closely collaborated on in my entire career.”

“We all know that Uganda is the most entrepreneurial country in the world. It is also common knowledge that we have one of the youngest and most youthful populations. Those are very powerful insights, so many brands have made claims of owning that space, but none has provided proof points. It is those two insights that led to the birth of the big idea in the form of #ICreateTomorrow,” he said.

Mr Ssenkeezi boasts of a six year experience in the Digital industry and it is precisely the same reason Vodafone snatched him from the grip of J. Walter Thompson Uganda, where he was the Digital Project Manager.
