Hustler: DJ King Bryan

jj

SPINNING DISCS: He is the son of the famous DJ Rotah and looks like spinning discs runs in the blood. DJ King Bryan mastered his art at home with inspiration from his father and now he is walking in his footsteps, mixing music at hangouts.

Where did you learn deejaying from?
I was born and raised in a DJ family. Being a son of the most prominent DJ in Uganda, DJ Rotah, deejaying has always been part of us. I also learnt from home and I love to put smiles on people’s faces.

What kind of machines do you use and what type would you recommend beginners to use?
I use the pioneer ddj sr and ddj sx2 for my mobile gigs. Although I recommend a DJ to use a gear he is comfortable with as long as you keep the crowd dancing.

Who inspired you to be a deejay?
My father DJ Rotah.

There are so many deejays in Uganda. What makes you stand out from the rest?
I can say my experience is my age. I did my first set back in my primary school during speech days. I do a wide selection of music that you cannot expect a young guy like me to play.
You mentioned that you play in different clubs. Where do you get the time?
I am a resident at Blue Mountain club and every weekend, I move from party to party. I play in two different hangouts at the weekends.

What particular music do you love listening to and playing?
I listen to good music. If a song is good, I connect to it. Away from work, I connect to oldies from the 90s and a bit of reggae and lovers rock.

For how many hours can you play in a night?
My set runs for four hours and I move to another gig.

In case someone wants to use your services, how can they get to you?
My email is Dkingbryan@gmail.com or call 0772403648/ 0702561469.

DJ King’s Notes
Where do you deejay at: I play with different hangouts around town; BBQ Lounge at Centenary Park, Blue Mountain Club in Ntinda, Club Dons, Flames Bar, The Establishment Club next to Guvnor, Bubbles O’learys in Kololo as well as private parties and radio appearance.

DJ Costs: It depends on what kind of party. In clubs, I range from Shs250, 000 per set.
