Madrat and Chicco, you could say are a new breed of comedians. They receive the wild cheers each time they step on stage and have been nominated in many awards, the last having been in Uganda Entertainment Awards held last week.
So when they showed up without wrist bands, the bouncers at Serena Kampala Hotel, did not want to hear that the duo were nominees. The head of security that day, a one Phillip told them that he knew them but they would only go past him over his dead body. To drive his point home, Phillip also bounced Daxx Kartel, another nominee for the best song of the year ‘Bala’ for the same reason.
Madrat, the shorter one of the two comedians, thought by telling off the heavily built security personnel would give him quick access.
“If we can’t get some respect here, never invite us for your function ever again. However mugged and tall you are, I can embarrass you at this moment,” Madrat threatened while Chico stood a few metres away. Phillip stood his ground until the comedians picked their passes from the main entrance a few metres away.
Luck would never be on their side over as they all lost out on the awards too, on top of valuable time wasted.
