Singer Iryn Namubiru was considered one of the best female musicians in Uganda between 2006 and 2012. During her time, she won awards, the biggest of all being the Artiste of the Year award in the Pearl of Africa Music Awards Awards in 2011.
After 2012, the singer disappeared from the music scene, she was rare at events and her songs barely got airplay. In 2013, the rumour mills went that the Yono singer was dealing in drugs and indeed she was arrested and detained in Tokyo, Japan over the same but was released after a few days.
In that same year, she held her Tebiba Bingi concert at Hotel Africana and again people talked that she only pulled crowds because the fans sympathised with her. Since then, Iryn has not been releasing many songs, getting overshadowed by new kids Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi and Sheebah, among others.
But now Iryn is making a comeback and she has confirmed that she will hold a concert at Serena Hotel come December. Before you doubt the success of the show, know that Iryn has a collaboration with Maro and looks like their Addicted song is catching fans so well, if the attendance at Laftaz Lounge last week in a mini performance is anything to go by.
Step aside Sheebah, welcome back Iryn!
