Word has reached us that Keko’s new management company has retained counsel on her behalf and is in the process of suing Genext for the unauthorised use of her image in their recent social media campaigns.
Apparently the How We Do It singer was contacted by a representative of Blu Flamingo, (the company charged to manage Genext’s twitter and facebook campaigns) last December and asked to make a jingle for the Genext campaign, which was never used in the campaign.
She was also asked to attend a photoshoot after which her image was in various mediums but without her consent. Her new label, Supanova Music Group, which is run by producer Just Jose, declined to comment, saying the matter was ongoing. However, we have learnt that Blu Flamingo has never paid for Keko or any other artistes for their images, despite claiming in the press that Keko was paid Shs60m.
Keko is set to launch her album on April 27, at Kyadondo rugby grounds supported by Nigerian RnB singer Tiwa Savage of the Kele Kele Love fame and Madtraxx from Kenya.
