There is something peculiar about David Lutalo as an artiste. He is constantly re-inventing himself, and this is depicted in his newest video So Nice. This video starts with David Lutalo waiting for his beautiful wife who is landing at the airport. We are shown the plane in the process of touching down. Thereafter, we cross to the scene where after a long wait, the girl comes rolling her suitcase towards Lutalo.
Next is a walk through an art gallery with African painting canvas. The costumes of the girl and David Lutalo reflect that African aspect, especially Lutalo’s traditional Nigerian men’s attire. We are then treated to the beautiful scenery that makes up Africa – from the grasslands to the wildlife.
The favourite part happens during the African dances. The timing is just right; they come just as the video gets to its closing point. And the dance happens in the evening just after the sunset. In the background are some age-old rocks. There is a circular pattern to the dance. It is like a nuptial dance and Lutalo crowns it with his lovely girl when they get to the floor to dance to their forever after.
In the aftermath of the dance, the couple climbs up a fort to get the best view of the wild. It evokes the emotions of a relaxed couple that is meant for each other. Of course, this couple plays the part with the toothy smiles and the touchy-feely actions.
If this is the way to open up 2016, then it is a sign of the many good videos that are yet to come. Lutalo sets the gold standard for 2016, right from the well-controlled lighting, and the use of natural light. He also chooses the best locations; nothing says love than a tour of Africa’s beautiful landmarks and scenery.
