Fixing it: Hafsa studied public relations, but instead of waiting for employment, she chose to open up her own public relations firm. Whispers PR opened doors last year and so far things are looking good.
What is the name of your company?
Whispers PR firm.
Why did you choose to name it so?
It is something I just came up with to get people’s attention. It is not inspired by anything specific.
When did you start this company?
Last year in February.
What services does Whispers offer?
We are a public relations firm that deals in media relations, social media marketing, publicity, crisis communications, new product launch, entertainment and internal communication.
Why did you decide to go for public relations business?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at Cavendish University in 2013, so I decided to open up my own firm after school.
What companies have you offered services to so far?
I have done work for Mukram holdings, Salaab cargo and shipping, platinum media, Team UOT (Ugandans On Twitter), among others.
Why would someone trust you to represent them in this field?
We are real, unique, genuine and honest.
What are some of the challenges you face in this business?
There is need for PR agencies to position themselves as the lead resource in helping clients embrace the business we do.
Because of many fraudsters, some companies do not trust us to represent them on big stages.
What does the future look like for Whispers?
We have an ice cream festival happening September 27 next year at the Bay in Munyonyo, which will bring all ice cream makers in one place. There will also be fun activities such as ice cream eating competitions, sack and egg race, face painting, bouncy castles for the children and lots of prizes to be won.
