What is the name of your company and when did you start it?
The company is called Venex Solutions and it was started in 2013.
What does Venex Solutions do?
Venex Solutions is a key player in research and business consulting and other business services within Uganda. It operates within three main sections, which are; research and business consulting, graphics and printing and information technology solutions.
How did you come up with that name?
Venex Solutions came from my name Bonaventure, which I usually shorten as Venture since it’s hard for some people to pronounce it. So from Venture, I created Venex Solutions.
How much did you invest in this business and how much is it worth now?
I started with an investment of just Shs900,000 and I used it to buy my first asset, a laptop. At the moment, business has grown and it is worth about Shs10m.
Why did you pick an interest in doing this kind of business?
When I was done with campus in 2012, I couldn’t find any job and I was spending more money in photocopying and printing my documents such as CVs and job applications. Afterwards, a friend of mine helped me get a volunteer job for data collection for a certain research company and that is when the idea of starting up my own research and business consultancy was born. A few months later, Venex Solutions was created.
Where are your offices located?
Our offices are located in Kireka, on Kinawataka road.
What are your charges for different services?
Different clients are charged differently according to the amount of work to be done. However, my charges usually range between Shs500,000 and Shs2m or even more, since some work requires travelling to different places around the country.
Who are some of your clients?
I usually work for individuals and companies. For example I have worked with Seed International, Done Technology, Besimbire Company and many others.
What challenges have you faced?
The start was not easy financially. I didn’t have enough capital, yet some clients would take long to pay or even not pay at all for the services rendered.
