Not so many promoters have thought about Jinja as a destination for an international concert. But Kayan promotions took the risk and the reception and rewards are so far overwhelming. A few weeks back, Club beer jumped onto the June 6 concert and turned it into their debut regional Mega Fest fete. Now news reaching us is that the Busoga Kingdom is teaming up with Kayan promotions to promote the show, albeit with well spelt out deliverables for each side.
According to the kingdom spokesperson, Andrew Ntange, the kingdom will help in creating awareness and mobilising the Kyabazinga’s subjects to attend the concert at Kakindu stadium. “We are going to turn this into a drive. We shall tell our people that this is beneficial to the kingdom. In return, Kayan promotions will donate Shs1,000 off each ticket sale towards the kingdom’s girl child education initiative,” Ntange said.
The Kyabazinga Prince William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, has not comfirmed his attendance as he is away for studies, but Ntange said consultations were underway to see to it that the king flies in for the event. Timaya is a Nigerian star musician famous for songs such as Sanko, My Body and Bum Bum. He is set to perform at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja on June 6 and at Waterfront Beach in Entebbe on June 7.
