Zuena dragged into Bebe Cool-Alex Muhangi court battle

The ongoing legal dispute between singer Bebe Cool and comedian Alex Muhangi has taken a new twist, with Bebe Cool’s wife, Zuena Kirema, now dragged into the matter.

Fresh details reveal that Zuena allegedly consumed drinks worth Shs 900,000 on the night Bebe Cool was scheduled to perform at Comedy Store but did not. This claim has sparked strong reactions from Bebe Cool’s legal team.

Speaking on the matter, Bebe Cool’s lawyer, Timothy Ssentongo, warned that if it is confirmed that Zuena settled the bill, they will file for defamation and spreading false information.

“If it is verified that Zuena did not pay for the drinks, we shall settle the debt. However, if it turns out she actually cleared the bill, we will file for defamation. The lawyer making these claims will also face consequences in court. Zuena is a well-established businesswoman, and such statements misrepresent her reputation,” said Ssentongo.

Meanwhile, Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu had previously issued court orders following a request from Muhangi’s lawyer, Robert Rutaro.

Bebe Cool and Alex Muhangi were scheduled to appear in court today to confirm whether they had reached an out-of-court settlement. The comedian had requested two weeks to resolve the dispute privately, but the talks failed after Bebe Cool reportedly refused to meet Muhangi.

Bebe Cool’s lawyer insisted his client is uncomfortable sitting down with Muhangi, adding that the court proceedings should continue.

However, Muhangi’s lawyer, Robert Rutaro, warned that Bebe Cool might regret missing the opportunity to negotiate.

“I want to remind Bebe Cool that if you refuse to negotiate, remember you are living in a glass house but throwing stones. We will also return the favor,” Rutaro stated.

He further alleged that Bebe Cool still owes UGX 30 million to Muhangi for his role as a vixen in the Wakayima music video.

The court has now scheduled Thursday, April 10, as the date for its verdict. This ruling will also grant Bebe Cool permission to investigate Muhangi’s social media earnings from the songs uploaded. The court’s findings could add another layer to the already tense legal battle.
