You don’t understand TikTok, Ugandans tell Mubajje

A section of Ugandans have castigated the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, for advising the government to ban TikTok.

While speaking during the Idd prayers at Old Kampala Mosque on Sunday, Sheikh Mubajje, 70, asked the government to ban the social media platform where users create and share short videos, often accompanied by music.

The cleric said TikTok is a useless platform for idlers seeking to share information with the aim of causing disunity and violence among people.

However, Mr Nicholas Opiyo, a human rights Lawyer, said a ban on TikTok undermines fundamental rights to the internet and access to information.
