Ugandan singer Omega 256 has officially parted ways with Nobat Events, following a public fallout that disrupted plans for her highly anticipated May concert. The Mbarara-based artist made the announcement at a press conference earlier today, confirming that the show—initially slated for May 2, at Lugogo Cricket Oval—has now been rescheduled to September 19.
“It is so absurd that we are not going to Lugogo on May 2,” Omega said, visibly emotional. “My heart is really sad and I am so sad to disappoint you, my fans wherever you are and my fellow artists. My team and I tried so much to have my show on the 2nd of May, but unfortunately we failed.”
Citing issues of readiness and behind-the-scenes challenges, Omega emphasized the need to make the right decision rather than force a rushed event.
“Some [issues] you know, others you don’t, and once you force something, you might end up regretting it. So we decided to have another date. Ladies and gentlemen, on the 19th of September, we are going to be at Lugogo Cricket Oval for the Omega 256 concert.”
In a bold move of independence, Omega revealed that the concert will now be fully organized by her own management, Diagram Evolution, with whom she’s worked for the past four years.
“Me and my management team decided to organize the show ourselves.”
This announcement comes days after Nobat Events publicly canceled the May 2, show, citing “disrespect from the artist” as the reason for pulling out. Interestingly, shortly after that, Nobat released another statement claiming that the show was “back on” following what he described as resolved differences.
Today’s press conference, however, appears to put that claim to rest. Omega 256 has firmly cut ties with the promoter and is moving forward with her team—on her terms.
The drama adds a layer of intrigue around her upcoming performance, now even more anticipated with fans eager to see how she reclaims control of her moment.
