Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone is set to return home this week after spending more than four months in the United States for specialized medical treatment. According to information shared by TV presenter Dagy Nyce on social media, Chameleone is expected to land at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday, 10th April, at 5:30 PM.
“4 DAYS TO GO…..>>>> Welcome home champ Thursday Ebb airport 5:30PM,” Dagy Nyce posted on X, generating excitement among fans awaiting his return.
Chameleone, who left Uganda in December 2024, sought medical attention for acute pancreatitis, a condition he has been battling. Throughout his stay in the US, the renowned musician was accompanied by his younger brother Weasel, with the support and care of Ugandan philanthropist Juliet Zawedde, who is based in the US.
As fans eagerly await his return, fellow musician and Western artist Ray G has launched a campaign to raise Shs 1 billion as a token of appreciation for Chameleone’s immense contribution to Uganda’s music industry. The initiative, tagged #1BillionForChameleone, calls on Ugandans to show their gratitude to the Leone Island boss for his decades of dedication to the music scene.
“The Ugandan music industry thrives today because HE sparked the fire! HE carries the Uganda flag on every stage. HE is coming home soon. Let’s give back to him with overwhelming love by raising UGX 1 billion for @JChameleone,” Ray G wrote on his social media.
In a subsequent post, Ray G emphasized that the target is achievable if all of Chameleone’s fans contribute. “It takes UGX 1000 from only 1 million fans to raise the amount. Together we can!” he added.
With Chameleone’s return on the horizon, the campaign is gaining momentum as Ugandans across the globe rally to show their appreciation for one of the country’s most iconic musicians.
