David Lutalo, Uganda’s popular ‘Kabisi Ka Ndagala’ singer, has issued a stern warning to a doppelganger known as Lutalo Junior, who has been impersonating him at various events across the country. Lutalo Junior, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the star, has been using his striking likeness to dress, walk, and sing like David Lutalo, often performing his hits at events where he is paid to showcase his talent.
Initially, David Lutalo had no problem with the resemblance and even shared the stage with Lutalo Junior a few times. However, the situation has now taken a troubling turn. Lutalo has expressed his dissatisfaction with Lutalo Junior’s actions, particularly with the way he has been using the singer’s image to mislead and defraud people, especially during wedding functions.
Lutalo revealed that the impersonator has been taking money from unsuspecting clients, performing as if he were the actual artist, and targeting rural areas where people might not be aware of the deception. The singer emphasized that while he has no issue with Lutalo Junior performing at smaller music events, he strongly objects to him performing at weddings and other significant functions under his name.
“I don’t mind him performing as long as he’s not impersonating me or taking money for pretending to be me,” David Lutalo stated. “He can perform at smaller shows, but not at weddings. He needs to stop using my image and taking people’s money under false pretenses.”
Lutalo made it clear that being a fan should not lead to fraudulent behavior, and he warned Lutalo Junior to stop misrepresenting him. The singer urged the public to be cautious when booking acts for events, ensuring that they are hiring the right person and not a fraudulent impersonator.
